Imagine a person on a college campus experiences a cardiac event. Someone nearby calls 911 on the person’s behalf, but the caller is frantic and doesn’t know what building they are in. As they scramble around trying to find a specific location, CAD dispatches first responders to the scene. CAD sends them to the common address for the middle of the campus. First responders arrive on campus but have no idea where the caller is on the campus, and critical minutes are lost before they can locate the patient.
Now imagine the caller’s local emergency response agencies are equipped with the RapidSOS integration with IamResponding. As soon as the caller contacts 911, the telecommunicator can see their live location in RapidSOS. When they dispatch first responders, the responders in the field can see the caller’s live location and other available data in IamResponding, providing key situational context. First responders arrive on scene faster and more informed, ensuring a better outcome for the patient.
The power of caller location
Through our integration with RapidSOS, IamResponding is now able to receive 911 caller information in jurisdictions where Emergency Communication Centers (ECCs) currently utilize RapidSOS. In addition to CAD incident location data, field responders can now view the real-time location of individuals who dial 911 using a mobile device, as well as a breadcrumb trail showing historical locations of the caller (while connected to 911), directly on the map within their IamResponding app.
With access to real time caller location data, field responders will have enhanced situational awareness while responding to, and on scene of, incidents. This data will reduce the amount of time it takes to locate people in need, and ultimately improve the quality of service that field responders are able to provide.
Transformative situational awareness
In addition to the caller location and historical breadcrumb information being provided through RapidSOS, field responders are also able to view:
• Distance between CAD incident location and the most recent caller location
• Caller altitude
• Uncertainty radius of the caller location
• Time of the most recent location received
When available for the 911 caller and/or incident dispatched, IamResponding’s integration with RapidSOS may also provide the following additional information:
• Health profiles
• Vehicle telematics
• Alarm and sensor data
